Win for Rendlesham at Communications Cup
On Monday, 23rd July, competitions for the Communications Cup  were held at the Riverside Centre, Stratford St. Andrew with Jenny Fitton representing Rendlesham W.I. in the Novice class.

Heats in the morning, held in front of a sizeable audience - including almost all the Rendlesham committee - involved for novices a 2-minute introduction to a well-known person for a radio interview while those in the advanced class delivered a 3-minute book review.

The judge, toastmaster Teresa Dukes of Ipswich, then selected three from each class for the afternoon's finals, taking into account personal presentation, clarity of speech, timing and content.
In the hotly-contested novice class, Jenny emerged victorious for Rendlesham, while Beryl Mabbutt of Bromeswell won through in the advanced category. In the photo above, Jenny receives the Communications Cup from SEFWI Chairman, Pam George.

Warm August Bank Holiday sunshine and hundreds of visitors brought steady trade to the Rendlesham W.I. stall outside St. Gregory's Church for the village Street Fair. Cakes were soon selling like ... well, hot cakes!

By close of play, the W.I. had raised £139.06 profit!

Many thanks to all those who contributed items and/or "personned" the stall.

Sellears set up Rag - the Rendlesham
Art Group - after discovering a mutual interest in art and caring for the environment. Fittingly, their cards, bags, brooches and artwork is all made from recycled fabrics and bric-a-brac that would otherwise be thrown away.

They regularly have a stall at Orford Country Market, and now have their own website as well, where you can see more of their beautiful work - just click on the Rag logo below.
